Dr. Michael Torgerson and his wife, Joy, founded Vision Eyeland Super Optical in Fort Collins, CO in 1991. did his undergraduate study at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1977 from Pacific University College of Optometry located in Forest Grove, Oregon. He returned to school in 1989 and became certified in therapeutic pharmaceuticals for the treatment of eye diseases by the Southern California College of Optometry, University of California at Fullerton.
Dr. Torgerson's emphasis in optometry school was in contact lenses and children's vision to include visual training therapy. He specializes in Family Practice Optometry and treats all types of visual disorders.
Joy Torgerson, manager of Vision Eyeland's optical, received her diploma in Nursing from Hennepin County General Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1973.
She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Viterbo College in LaCrosse, Wisconsin in 1985. She is an ABO certified optician and is a Registered Optometric Assistant.
Dr. Eric Torgerson, Dr. Michael Torgerson's son joined the Vision Eyeland practice in 2007. He completed his undergraduate study at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. He attended Pacific University College of Optometry and graduated with distinction in May 2007. He specializes in family practice optometry, children's vision and Vision therapy.
Michael and Joy reside in Fort Collins. Eric resides in Fort Collins as well.
Dr. Ashley Swalla joined the practice in July of 2010. She grew up in Cheyenne, WY and received her Bachelor of Arts in Zoology/Physiology from the University of Wyoming in May of 2005.
She then attended optometry school in Fullerton, CA at the Southern California College of Optometry and received her Doctor of Optometry degree in May of 2009. In June of 2010 she completed a residency in Ocular disease at the VA of Southern Nevada Health care system in Las Vegas, NV.
Dr. Swalla enjoys all aspects of optometry including ocular disease, pediatrics and contact lenses in addition to practicing primary care optometry. She is now currently residing here in Fort Collins and is excited to be back in the area and close to home again!
